Modify your lifestyle to prevent heart attacks - World Kidney Day Medical Seminar and Screening Camp

The Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA), the leading social welfare organization of Indians in Kuwait along with Indian Doctors Forum (IDF) Kuwait celebrated the World Kidney Day by organizing a large scale Medical Awareness Seminar and free medical screening camp for Indians in Kuwait.  The camp was supported by Kuwait Medical Association, Kuwait Heart Foundation, Dasman Diabetic Center, Kuwait National Guard, Kuwait Indian Dentists Alliance and Indian Optometrists Association in Kuwait in association with Indian Central School, Kuwait Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries Company, Advanced Technology Company and Ashraf & Company.

The Medical Seminar held at Indian Central School was inaugurated by Mr. Subashis Goldhar, Charge D’Affairs and the Deputy Chief of Mission at Embassy of India.  He appreciated the valuable services rendered by KKMA for the social welfare of Indians in Kuwait and back home. He also commended Indian Doctors Forum for supporting community organizations in conducting such screening camp utilizing the selfless services of Indian doctors in Kuwait.
  KKMA patron Sageer Trikarpur presided over the inaugural session and in his address explained KKMA’s objective and commitment to work towards the welfare of the society.  KKMA president Ibrahim Kunnil welcomed the audience. IDF President, Dr. Vinod Grover explained the importance of having regular medical screening and lauded the efforts by KMMA in this regard. Mr. Afsal Khan, Country Head, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, sponsor of the event, felicitated the seminar.


Dr. Narayanan Nampoory, Consultant Nephrologist, Ministry of Health delivered the World Kidney Day message high lighting the importance of raising awareness on kidney diseases. Special guest on the occasion, Dr. P.P. Mohammed Musthafa  P.P. Chief Cardiologist and Managing Director of METRO International Cardiac Centre, Calicut delivered a key note address on “Know Your Heart”.   He explained the causes and treatment available for heart diseases. However, he cautioned that the prevention is always better than treatment.  He urged audience to make dietary changes, increase physical activity and to be aware of their family’s medical history which would help reducing the risk.  Dr. Rouben George, Consultant Nephrologist, Farwaniya Hospital in his speech explained ways to protect acute kidney injury and answered the questions from the audience.



KKMA chairman Akbar Siddique, vice chairman NA Muneer, KKMA CFO Ali Matara, General Secretary K. Basheer and program committee convener Mohammad Iqbal were present along with other office bearers of KKMA.  Considered as the largest medical camp so far held in Kuwait, nearly 1500 participants including of women and children utilized the event held at Indian Central School, Abbasiya. A dedicated team of medical professionals specialized in cardiology, dermatology, diabetic and endocrinology, E.N.T., gastroenterology, general medicine, gynecology, nephrology, neurology, Ophthalmology, orthopaedic, pediatric, general surgery and urology provided their free consultancy services.  Under the leadership of KKMA, nearly 100 paramedical staff and various working groups comprised of nearly 200 volunteers relentlessly offered their dedicated efforts for the success of the medical camp

The first of its kind Center has been open in Calicut in the month of July 2006 in association with IQRAA International Hospital and Research Center.

A second center started functioning at Daya General Hospital in Trichur in the month of August 2007.

EDC Kannur
In 2015 KKMA has initiated establishment of an Early Detection Center in Kerala and by the grace of Almighty Allah, we have opened the first EDC in the city of Kannur in August 2016.
