Housing Improvement Program (HIP)
The Housing Improvement Program (HIP) is a vital initiative launched by KKMA to address the urgent housing needs of economically disadvantaged families within the community. Recognizing that stable and safe housing is a cornerstone of family health, stability, and overall well-being, HIP aims to transform the living conditions of underprivileged families, especially among Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Many of these families are living in substandard homes that are unsafe, unhealthy, or otherwise inadequate. By providing financial assistance and support, HIP ensures that these families have access to safer and more comfortable living environments.
The program operates through a tiered approach to cater to varying levels of housing needs. For immediate concerns that threaten health or safety, HIP offers up to Rs. 25,000 for essential repairs. For more extensive renovations required to make homes livable and secure, the program provides up to Rs. 50,000. In cases where homes are beyond repair, HIP grants up to Rs. 100,000 for the construction of new housing. This comprehensive support not only enhances the physical living conditions but also fosters a sense of dignity and security among beneficiaries. Furthermore, HIP promotes environmental sustainability and community involvement by incorporating sustainable building practices and engaging local communities in the renovation process.
